SYRACUSE PHA MEETING
June 8, 2026

There was a Syracuse PHA meeting on Monday, June 8.    Present at the meeting was Liz Pinto, Mark Frohm, Anne Wernert, Shelly Shaulinski, Gail Miller, Claire Afflack, Sarah Donahue, Kerry Kocher (via phone), Deb Lorge, Becky Bates, Jaime Bates, Debbie Barmaster, Margie Heberle.

Secretary's Report :

A motion was made to accept the Secretary’s report dated March 2026.  The motion was made by Liz ;seconded by Anne and carried.

Treasurer's Report :

A copy is on file with the secretary.  We will table the treasurer's report regarding the horse show until the next meeting.

Rules Report :

Equitation horses can legally wear nose nets.  Hunters cannot.

High Point Report :

Approx 115 people at the banquet this past January.

PHA Show :

• April 20-25 are the 2027 dates

• The Sweeney Family will again sponsor the Pairs class for 2027

• Awards and ribbons from the April show – what do with it all?  We will use some of these for our October show.

• Shelly will look into POD storage for the leftover awards.

• Judges – Archie Cox will be a judge.

• Hopefully we can do the 50/50 raffle in 2027.

• Hopefully the Venmo will be fixed

October PHA Show:

• No requirements for showing at this show.

• Friday we did “open” hunter divisions followed by the Derby (open to all horses and riders)

• Saturday undersaddles then classic round followed by handy.

• Sunday jumpers and equitation will show.

In 2025 we had

• 115 Friday trips (22 in derby)

• 70 Satuday trips

• 25 jumpers.  22 eq trips

Old Business :

Aid to Member – We will send one check.  All are in favor

The next meeting will be Monday August 10, 2026  at 11:00 at the Creekside Inn in Rush.
