Syracuse PHA Meeting September 18, 2006 There was a Syracuse PHA meeting on Monday, September 18, 2006 Present at the meeting was Anne Pedersen, Kim Montrois, Becky Bates, Jamie Bates, Andy Lomker, Terese Bouchard, Connie Chave, Denise Van Patten, Anne Ealy, Stacy Calale, Nancy Bechtel, Naomi Blumenthal, Shelly Shaulinski, Sue Mauro, Mark Frohm, Steve Kirk, Gail Miller, Bob Haefner, Heather Heberle, Rachel Sells, and Mike McGowan. Secretary's Report : A motion was made to accept the Secretary’s report dated June 2006. The motion was made by Nancy Bechtel; seconded by Steve Kirk and carried. Treasurer's Report : A copy of the report is on file with the Secretary. Money was transferred from our checking account into the Putnum Account. A motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s report. The motion was made by Anne Pedersen; seconded by Mark Frohm and carried. Membership Report : Pre-adult hunters and Pre-children’s hunters will be added to the new form. **See specs below*** Rules Report : Gail Miller made a motion to give a high score award for pre-adult and pre-children’s hunters; Mark Frohm seconded. Pre-adult hunters are open to all adult-amateur riders and cannot cross enter horse or rider into any rated divisions or classes at that show. Fences to be 2’6”. Pre-children’s hunters are open to all junior riders and cannot cross enter horse or rider into any rated divisions or classes at that show. Fences to be 2’6” for horses and to be 2’ for ponies. These divisions are to be run on rated days in order for PHA points to be counted. 13 members in favor. 4 are against. 1 abstention. This change will be reviewed in one year. Naomi made a motion to recognize that all levels of the jumpers will be considered 1 division. Steve Kirk seconded the motion. All are in favor. Shelly made a motion to accept the changes for the rule book as stated. Andy seconded. All are in favor. High Point Report : The banquet will be held on Saturday January 6, 2007 at the Crowne Plaza in Rochester. Dinner will be a sit down with 3 choices available. We are still looking for donations to the banquet!! Forms are available on the web site. www.Syracusepha.org Election Report : Becky Bates, Sue Lowe, Naomi Blumenthal, and Gail Miller are up for re-election this year. Anybody wishing to become a director should contact Kim Montrois at (KMONTWBF@aol.com) by October 15. Scholarship Report : 4 people applied. Kaitlin Legg and Anne Mirabito will be awarded scholarships. A motion was made by Nancy Bechtel; seconded by Mark From. All are in favor. A motion was made to award $500 per person. The motion was made by Gail Miller; seconded by Denise VanPatten and carried. All are in favor. There were 4 children of professional members that were awarded scholarships. Jeff Frohm, Rachel Pedersen, Jack Miller, and Leslie Miller. Grievance Report : Nothing to report. Show Date Report : Dates for 2007 are VERY different. Most shows are 1 week later. Old Business : Web Site – Bob Haefner is looking for any ideas to help keep the web site updated. We are looking for any photo’s from members to post. We will change the results postings on the web site to placings instead of points. We post prize lists for all member shows. Horse show photos submitted to the web site will be displayed for 30 days. All division results will be posted. The next meeting will be Monday December 11, 2006 at 5:30 at the Hampton Inn in Victor.
