Syracuse PHA Meeting June 6, 2006 There was a Syracuse PHA meeting on Monday, June 5, 2006. Present at the meeting was Stacy Calale, Kim Montrois, Naomi Blumenthal, Andy Lomker, Shelly Shaulinski, Tom Matthews, Gail Miller, Anne Pedersen, Sue Mauro, Mark Frohm, and Steve Kirk. Secretary's Report : A motion was made to accept the Secretary’s report dated March 20, 2006. The motion was made by Gail Miller; seconded by Anne Pedersen and carried. Treasurer's Report : Andy Lomker presented the treasurer’s report. A copy is on file with the secretary. We will transfer money back to the Putnum account. Gail Miller made a motion to transfer $2000 to the Putnum account; seconded by Tom Matthews and carried. All are in favor. A financial report from the PHA show is also on file with the secretary. Membership Report : Nothing to report. Rules Report : Nothing to report. High Point Report : Nothing to report. Election Report : Nothing to report. Scholarship Report : Professional scholarship applications are due to the National PHA by July 1. Contact Mary Jane Mitchell with your information. MJMITCH@aol.com Grievance Report : A bad experience was had by one of our professionals with a professional from outside of the Syracuse PHA area. The professional did not pay for any of the agreed upon expenses. The deposit check for the pony was returned by the bank for stopped payment. Having the money wired into an account could have been a way to avoid this problem. The pony was finally returned after not being sold. Show Date Report : All 2006 dates are paid for except for The Willows. The August at Lehman Farms show will once again be run to benefit the scholarship fund. Please contact Naomi at NBlumenthal@twcny.rr.com if you are interested in helping. PHA Show : Possible changes for 2007 were discussed to cut down on expenses. Possibly moving the show was one idea. More ideas will be discussed at future meetings. Naomi will try to set up a meeting with the coliseum staff so we can express our views about ways to improve the footing. If you have any ideas about changes/improvements please let me know at Shellybip@aol.com and they will be read at the next meeting. New Business : We would like to thank Linda Williams for her help starting the web site. The web site will now be run by another member of the Syracuse PHA. We will make a donation to the Sarah Zurenda Memorial Fund. The USHJA has invited all affiliates to participate in their USHJA Affiliate Awards Program. The goal of the program is to recognize an outstanding junior, amateur, and professional rider who exemplify good horsemanship, sportsmanship, and integrity for the sport and exhibitors.
