SYRACUSE PHA MEETING

September 28, 2009

There was a Syracuse PHA meeting on Monday, September 28, 2009.  Present at the meeting was Shelly Shaulinski, Naomi Blumenthal, Andy Lomker, Steve Kirk, Terese Bouchard, Debbie Barmaster, Abby Crystal, Jaime Bates, Becky Bates, Gail Miller, Mike McGowan, Sue Mauro, and Mark Frohm

Secretary's Report :

A motion was made to accept the Secretary’s report dated June 15, 2009.  The following changes were made – Debbie Derleth was the recording secretary.  Debbie Barmaster was present at the meeting.  The motion was made by Sue Mauro; seconded by  Debbie Barmaster and carried.

Treasurer's Report :

A copy of the treasurer’s report is on file with the secretary.  A motion was made to accept the report by Mark Frohm; seconded by Abby Crystal and carried.  All are in favor.

Membership Report :

A motion was made to raise the membership rates by $5 across the board – making pro memberships $40, associate memberships $35, and junior memberships $25.  We will add a business membership that will carry the same membership fee as the associate fee.  Steve Kirk seconded.  All are in favor.

Rules Report :

Mark Frohm made a motion to change the pre-adult/children division specs.  All are in favor.  This will be added to the pre-children’s/adult’s hunter division rule ---

Any rider showing in any division/class at the same show where the fence height exceeds 3’ cannot show in the pre-children’s/pre-adult hunters (including the under saddle)

High Point Report :

Naomi will be printing the banquet program this year.  She will be including photo’s of the champions.  She will let you know when she needs the photo’s.

The pre-children’s hunters will be divided into pre-children’s hunter horses and pre-children’s hunter ponies for year end awards.

The A/O hunter’s may be combined for year end awards.  The A/O hunters will be contacted and advised of the situation.  We need 1 more older and 2 more younger’s nominated to keep the division split.

Election Report :

Sue Lowe, Becky Bates, Naomi Blumenthal, and Gail Miller are up for election.  If anybody would like to be a director please contact Kim Montrois if you are interested.

Scholarship Report :

Emma Green and Katherine Mirabito qualify for PHA scholarships.  Gail Miller made a motion to send these 2 scholarship checks.  The motion was seconded by Abby Crystal.  All are in favor.

Web Site Report :

We would like to thank Bob Haefner for ‘hosting’ the web site for the past few years.  The web site will be handed over to the next host.

PHA Show :

Jerry Frankhouser will judge the April show.  Please bring any ideas you may have for the April show to the December meeting.

Old Business :

We will be purchasing a Zoll AED(defribulator) unit to be made available to the PHA horse shows.  Becky Bates made a motion to purchase the hard case; seconded by Abby and carried.

We will send 2 more checks to the other riders that were accepted in the EAP program.

Abby made a motion to send the 2 riders that were invited to Gladstone a travel expense check.  All are in favor.

The next meeting will be Monday November 30, 2009 at 5:30 at the Hampton Inn in Victor.
